In Episode 8 we're reading and disussing the last two pages of an early summer project about reflections on deep psychology and religion, blended in with a discreet story of love balancing the different moods. Recurring themes in the story are the walks along a river, the shifting experience between real life and written imaginary worlds, and the exploring of the mind and heart.
At the end of the story the character recognizes the changing seasons and embraces the coming journey.
Podcast #8 - "Summer Fading". Last two pages.
In Episode 7 we explore the deeper levels of the human mind and the changing experience of going into the more ancient parts of the thoughts. In the second part of the podcast, the character then floats up and sees the beautiful landscape in front of him, and reflects on his little journey into the deep, and into the more primal machinery of our prehistoric nature. The excerpts ends with a feeling of calm, and a natural love of life.
Podcast #7 - "On a Sunny Bench". A Journey to the Deep.
After an evening walk in the first autumn night, the character floats into the vision of being on a boat in a dark ocean in the night, and explores the deeper parts of himself. Only to discover that something has changed.
Episode #6 - Ocean at Night
This passage is from a book draft called "Two Old Friends", or "Italy, 1885". It describes one of the moments in the evolution of Maurice as a writer and his relationship to and participation in culture, and the history of his own country. Manifested through an interaction with the younger generation. He also discovers the root of his own authenticity as a writer.
Podcast #5 - Maurice in the Bookshop. The experience of reading.
A slight breeze is a metaphor for the disturbance of peace of mind in this little text, an impression. And then the images move the mind to a calmer place.
9. A Slight Breeze
Summer had come. I was sitting at the bench half way along the river path on the one side, with branches reaching over me from two trees on both sides, and the water floating peacefully in front of me. For an elusive reason it had been harder to reach the place of calm, and of inner peace, in the last few weeks. There were perhaps too many influences, of different nature, to fully reach the moods of presence, and of the larger perspectives. I got up, trying to move for the thoughts to change.
An impression from standing in the fields - with new times emerging.
A short impression from a river walk, and memories of France.
In the first episode we explore the opening of The Park, and the technique and words used to stimulate and open the mind and the visual thinking to prepare for the reading of the book. We'll discuss the first paragraph and the deeper layers to it.
PROLOGUE - THE PARK
As he sat down in the peaceful park his mind started to drift as usual. Swaths of hidden memories and past joys bubbled up from the deep as he watched the ducks glide along the clear calm surface of the lake. Some thoughts were clear and vivid, others more muddled and fragmented, some with strong emotions still, while yet again others strangely remote and neutral after the passing of time and changes in life rendering them distant and beautiful but other like. Ever since he was a little child he had loved the peace of a small lake in the park. And the day had just begun.
Podcast #1 - Memory and Visual Components
Reading and reflections on a short excerpt about life, travels, and memories.
